Hadley's 4th Birthday!
I enjoy being creative and with that, creating comes in many forms. Such as artwork, photography, refinishing furniture, diy projects and decorating. Decorating for my daughters birthday parties over the last few years has been something I look forward to. I have been wanting to start a blog to share my decorating, baking, and diy projects for awhile!
My first post is of Hadley’s 4th birthday! She wanted a mermaid party and I was inspired by the Meri Meri “Lets Be Mermaids” party decor. We hosted it at my parents for more room and my mom helped out a ton with all the baking. It also was my first attempt at using fondant on a cake!
The cake my mom and I made ourselves. It is chocolate cake with homemade frosting and marshmallow fondant. It was my first attempt at using fondant on a cake.
I created a ballon garland. I have seen these online and on Pinterest. I really wanted to try it! It took a lot of balloons! But I just tied the balloons on a ribbon. It was pretty simple! I found some sparkle clear forks and purple pearl chocolate candies at Hobby Lobby. We also added some plastic clear jewels and sea shells around the deserts.
We decided the adults needed something to munch on while watching the kids play. We did a platter of veggies with a pepper as a octopus on top. We filled a fish bowl of gold fish crackers and made sugar cookies cut out as seashells and starfish. We also had a punch bowl of tropical blue punch. Every cookie and veggie was about gone! So I am glad we added them.
This was the first year that we had a group of little friends join in on the party! We usually just had family and close friends. I knew I needed an activity to keep them busy. I found tiny treasure trunks at Michael’s Craft Store along with jewel, seashell, and pirate stickers to decorate with. After they were done decorating we had a treasure hunt to find the treasure that was going to go in their trunks. I ordered a party treasure bundle off Amazon that had jewels, rings, necklaces, and pirate gold in it.
Hadley loved her party and that is what was most important! It was a great day spent with family and friends!
